Deputy Sheriff – Patrol:

 

As a Patrol Deputy, you will patrol the entire parish of Acadia, rotating between day and night shifts, shifts are in twelve hour increments.  Under general supervision, you must exercise the responsibilities for the enforcement of state and local laws relating to public safety and welfare.  You must exercise independent judgment in dealing with dangerous or unusual situations as well as exercising safety practices and procedures. Deputies must be able to work under stressful and high risk conditions.

 

Qualifications:

 

Graduate from an accredited senior high school or GED equivalent.  Possess a valid driver’s license.  Must be a US citizen and be at least 21 years of age.  Must be able to work twelve hour rotating shift assignments and maintain proper attendance.

 

Special Pre-Employment Requirements:

 

A psychological exam will be performed, which includes an interview with a Psychologist and a two part assessment performed in office.  A drug screen will be mandated.  A thorough background check will be performed, in additional a full physical will also be mandated by a physician of our choice.
